Rakuten Cash Back

I am a big proponent of buying small and buying locally. The small businesses near you need your support and patronage. And you don’t have the added carbon footprint of one-off shipping to your house.

Sometimes, though, you can only find something you want or need online. In those cases, why not earn a bit of cash back and find some coupons? Rakuten does both of those things. In the past 12 months, I’ve earned over $150 in cash back from Apple, Target, Knockaround (my favorite sunglasses), and my new favorite shop, Alibris (used books).

Sign up here and we’ll each get a bonus $20.

Omaze is one of my favorite places to enter contests to raise money for good causes, and they have cash back through Rakuten. Once you register, you can install the app on your phone and search, or add browser plugins that will let you know when you visit a site that has cash back you can activate. Once you’re finished shopping, the cash will go into your Rakuten account and then you’ll get a “Big Fat Check” once each quarter.

Don’t go buying a bunch of crap you don’t need. But, when you do need something, gain a little extra cash back. Every little bit helps to plan your next adventure or your favorite charities!
